CBRI Commissioned by Leicestershire County Council to Initiate Commercial Opportunities for East Midlands Airport

Located in Leicestershire at the heart of UK, East Midlands Airport (EMA) is UK’s No. 1 Express & E-Commerce cargo gateway, affiliated to Manchester Airport Group. EMA handles over 365,000 tonnes of cargo flown annually (1,000,000 tonnes by 2040 expected) and 28,000 dedicated freight movements supporting £11BN worth of non-EU trade and £40BN intra EU. EMA handles over 40% of UK’s dedicated freight air cargo volume. EMA serves as UK hubs for DHL, UPS, FedEx, TNT, Royal Mail, Amazon etc.

CBRI, commissioned by Leicestershire County Council as the Council’s Consultant on China Affairs since 2016, takes the initiative to explore and initiate commercial opportunities for EMA. CBRI’s main responsibilities include:

  1. Advising EMA regarding best practice to plan and work with airports and airlines in China
  2. Liaising on behalf of the Council and EMA as point of contact to identify potentials and explore opportunities in China
  3. Arranging senior managerial meetings between EMA and potential partners in China
  4. Facilitating and troubleshooting at all levels
